Where we started
Define Logic Studios began as a concept during the final year of our Undergraduate course at the University of South Wales. Before that, we've had two years experience working together on various projects during our studies. The decision to collaborate beyond University came from the development of our final year project, Scientific Shutdown, which we have since taken on to full development.
Games Talent Wales 2019
After the completion of our third year of university, we were invited to take our final project further with Games Talent Wales; a program for presenting Welsh video game excellence to a global audience. We joined seven other teams from across the north and south of Wales in travelling to London to exhibit our games at EGX 2019.
We were very lucky to be situated close to the main entrance of the convention and received very high attendance each day. We got a really positive reception from players and were given plenty of suggestions for additional content. Our original plan was to continue working on Scientific Shutdown in order to implement the most popular suggestions and get it released. However the majority of the team had already started on masters degrees so production was halted so that efforts could be concentrated on that instead.
In 2020 we were accepted into the nationwide UK Games Talent competition, Tranzfuser, with our Narrative Action-Adventure game 'Project Roman'. We were awarded £5,000 to develop this project between the period of June to September 2020, where it was then featured at the Protoplay Live event.
After Tranzfuser had ended, we decided to not move forward with the project at this time.
Where we are now
As of the end of 2020, we have returned to development of Scientific Shutdown to get it finished in time for an expected release of Summer 2021. We aim to add new systems to the game such as a weapons upgrade shop and end-of-level bosses. You can follow our progress on our social media.
Looking ahead, we will be continuing to develop new and interesting projects, while looking to expand into outsourcing our talents to third-party projects and commissions. We hope you will follow our journey as we learn and grow as a studio.
